Board Policy Update
On August 24, 2007, the
board voted to require each licensee to provide the Certificate of
Completion for each self-study course with the Annual CPE Reporting
Form.

 | Compliance will be measured by the
calendar year. All licensees must complete and return a CPE Reporting Form
to the West Virginia Board of Accountancy by the postmark deadline of
January 31.
 | Licensees' reporting forms must contain
the West Virginia license number and be dated and signed.
 | The Board of Accountancy will review
100% of the reporting forms submitted by licensees, noting at the same time
the licensee's CPE hours for the three-year period then ended.
 | The Board shall maintain a file of
continuing education reporting forms for each certificate holder for four
years |
 | The hours secured will be entered in the
record of the licensee in the computer master file with the designation of
year and the number of credits. A master file will be maintained with the
record of the current year and the past two years' credit hours reported by
the licensees.
 | Each year the Board of Accountancy will
mail a CPE Status confirmation letter to each licensee providing a record of
the hours secured by the CPA so that action can be taken if there is an
error or dispute. It is recommended that the CPA keep these confirmation
letters on file for future evidence that the CPE is in compliance. |
 | Fraudulent reporting of Continuing
Professional Education credits is a basis for disciplinary action |

IMPORTANT CPE NOTICE - March 2007
It has come to
the attention of the Board that the American Center for Continuing
Professional Education (ACCPE) is marketing self-study and on-line
programming to West Virginia CPAs and that many of you have received
brochures and discount coupons. Several West Virginia CPAs have
claimed CPE credit for self-study courses secured through the ACCPE.
Please be advised: ACCPE is not approved by either NASBA or the
AICPA as a CPE provider and therefore is not approved to offer CPE
credit by the West Virginia Board of Accountancy.
If you claim CPE credit for any ACCPE courses, the credit will be
denied. Contact Brenda Turley, CPE Coordinator, at the Board
office if you have any questions regarding this information. (304)
