A More Positive Outlook at Work

I hated going to work every day, but I have to do it, because I need the money and I can’t get another job at the moment. One of my coworkers always comes to work and enjoys his day, and I could never figure out how he didn’t want to pull his hair out. He seemed to be a pretty positive person and it didn’t seem natural at all, given our stressful work environment. I thought he was taking some kind of drugs. I asked him why he was so positive, and he said that he read Open Mind quotes during the day to keep him in a positive mood.

I thought he was joking, because I just couldn’t see how reading positive quotes would help anyone that much. He told me to try it out, and I would see that the quotes really do work. I went to the website and read some of the quotes, and really didn’t feel anything. I went back to doing my work and I started to get frustrated again. That’s when it hit me. I remembered one of the quotes that I read from the website, and I wasn’t feeling as bad. My outlook on what was making me frustrated in the first place changed, and I took a new approach to my tasks.

For the rest of the day, I was feeling much better than I would usually feel when working. I read some more of the quotes and I was put in a relaxed state. Not only was I able to stay focused on my work without getting frustrated, but I was actually more productive that day. When I left work, I had a smile on my face, which was uncharacteristic of me. Everyone else around me wondered why I was feeling so happy, and I told them that I figured out how to get through work without being so angry.
